How To Display Your Kids (MANY, MANY) Art Projects

I have a crafty child that brings home LOTS of art work from "school". Mostly these go on the fridge until my sweet cheeks decides to take said art work off the fridge and de-sticker the art work - or - rip it to pieces - whatever the case may be.

So these art pieces have been ending up in a designated bin in our spare room. Boring.

I need a solution. An art-work solution. A way to display these CUTE pieces of work.

A Bone To Pick

I always have several "bones" to pick, but not always vocal about them.

What's your take on privacy at this day in age?

EVERYTHING as we know it is public knowledge - what with the social networks, google, blogs - pretty much everything under the sun. So why do people get so tangled in a knot once someone "spies" on your life under those circumstances? I mean, it IS 2011. It IS public knowledge unless you specify otherwise. Correct? Or no?

My rule of thumb (a.k.a. me: bitching?) :

If you do not want something seen or heard ; don't post! (This is major commonsense : DUH)

If you want something seen or heard or talked about, then obviously you are hungry for attention or like the attention - so stop bitching about it.

If you are an open book - expect to BE an open book.

Modesty and Conservatism is a hard thing to adhere by and it takes practice.

Act your age, not your shoe size. If you want to be seen, be seen. If you don't - make your life private - completely.

Here's a couple of hints on how to simplify or keep your life private:

Facebook - this is a no-brainer - status messages say A LOT about you. And photos, well, they clearly speak for themselves. If you had a photo shoot done that you don't want certain people to see - go private! Or don't post - or keep them to whoever they were intended to. Its not that hard. If you have small children that you don't want exposed to EVERYONE on your friends or anyone on the Internet - go private!

Certain things should be kept private, ie: your child's pictures, your sister/brothers child's pictures, half naked pictures, etc.

go to privacy settings in facebook > either customize your settings on who sees your profile or select "friends only" - BOOM. Done.

Google: Well, this is still a little disturbing - if you enter your name in the search box - your world IS an open book - you can basically get ANY. THING. online these days.

Here's a solution: go to: http://www.squidoo.com/personalInformation and it gives some good info on how to protect yourself.

Blogging: Well, you're screwed here. If you want write your life in an online book ( of sorts ) - please be prepared for people to JUDGE. For people to DISAGREE with your opinions. And, to ultimately be HATED. Sorry, it's just the fact of life. Rule: If you don't want something to be seen, don't post. Again, DUH.

And there's my vent for this Friday.

To be an open book or not to be an open book - this is your discretion.

A Recommendation For New MaMa's

I just heard a blurp on the radio about new babies & strollers and it was SO right on I had to post something about it.

I was so concerned when I first started to shop for Lucy while I was pregnant that I HAD TO HAVE a huge, chunky, travel system stroller. (You know, the one that the infant carseat fits into?)

Hunk of Junk. Waste of Money. It's in the trash now.

My first mistake: I didn't do my research.

My second mistake: I bought a 'Baby Trend' stroller (hunk-o-junk)

My third mistake: I didn't keep the jogging stroller my in-laws got me (FAIL)

What I'm recommending to the new mommies - soon to be new mommies - is...don't waste your money on that beautiful carseat-stroller combo that you've been eyeing in 'babies r us'

Get a practical, cheap, umbrella stroller.

Our best buy:

If you must buy that overly priced travel system, go with:

Chicco Cortina Travel System - $239 (ON SALE NOW)

2) I'm catholic - so the topic above is totally against my beliefs. Oh well. I think God loves me anyway.

3) I'm from Minnesota. 21 years in Minnesota landed me with an accent that has YET to go away - I've been in Arizona for 9+ yrs.

4) I love my accent.

5) I generally don't like people. No, I love people. I'm very social however, I really hate doing "stuff". Every once in a while - a good plan with some good people is ALWAYS a good time...and I can talk and talk and talk and talk (extrovert here) - but something about staying in the comfort of my own home, comfy clothes, my daughter, my Wader - makes me MUCH more happy than entertaining. So sue me.

6) I'm a repulican, pro-lifer. Need I say more?

7) I have a cat and I hate - no DESPISE cats. I once wanted to hire the cat-serial-killer that was on the news in Phoenix here a couple months ago.

8) I met my best friend, Danielle, on myspace. - She stalked me - for the record. She's awesome.

9) I listen to talk radio all day, every day.

10) I'm a middle child - to two wonderfully beautiful amazing sisters.

A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q.. Where will the government get this money ?

A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money ?

A. Only a smidgen of it.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment ?

A. The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a

high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China ?

A. Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the U.S. economy by

spending your stimulus check wisely:

* If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, the money will

go to China or Sri Lanka .

* If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to the

Arabs.

* If you purchase a computer, it will go to India , Taiwan or

China .

* If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico ,

Honduras and Guatemala ..

* If you buy an efficient car, it will go to Japan or Korea .

* If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan .

* If you pay your credit cards off, or buy stock, it will go

to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore.

Instead, keep the money in America by:

1) Spending it at yard sales, or

2) Going to ball games, or

3) Spending it on prostitutes, or

4) Beer or

5) Tattoos.

(These are the only American businesses still operating in the U.S. )

Conclusion:

Go to a ball game with a tattooed prostitute that you met at a yard

sale and drink beer all day !

Pina Colada Muffins & Lil' Smokies

This past weekend my friend Jaime had an "around the world" potluck girls night IN. (which basically means we all picked a country and brought something related to that country and their food)

It was a blast! I picked the good ole' U.S. of A. and picked the following recipes:

Pina Colada Muffins - Recipe Below - These were to DIE for and I don't even like coconut!

Cocktail Smokies - a potluck classic here in the 'States' - Recipe Below

Little Smokies Recipe

Two Packets of Hilshire Farms Lil' Smokies

1 and 1/2 16 oz bottles of your favorite BBQ sauce

Your crockpot

Place all ingredients in crockpot - set on low for 6-8 hrs and Enjoy - Easy Peasy!

Pina Colada Muffins

Ingredients

· 1 cup dried pineapple

· 2 pieces dried pineapple, for garnish before baking

· 1 cup dark Jamaican rum, optional

· 2 cups all -purpose flour

· 1 teaspoon baking powder

· ½ teaspoon baking soda

· ¼ teaspoon salt

· 1 ½ sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature

· 1 cup sugar

· 2 large eggs, at room temperature

· 1 cup sour cream

· 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

· ¾ teaspoon finely minced orange zest

· ¾ cup sweetened coconut flakes

Directions

Place the pineapple in a small saucepan and pour the rum over it. If you are not using the

rum, pour in 1 cup water (preferably spring water). Bring to boiling, the allow the

pineapple to cool in the liquid for about 30 minutes. Drain the pineapple. (If you are

using rum, after draining, either discard it or reserve it for another use.) Pat the pineapple

dry with paper towels, reserve 12 pieces, and roughly chop the remainder and set aside.

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Thoroughly butter the TOP of a 12-muffin pan. (This is to

ensure easy release of muffins after baking.) Place paper liners in the 12 muffin cups.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In the large bowl of an electric mixer, beat the butter on medium speed until it is very

creamy. Gradually add the sugar and beat well, until the mixture turns light. Add the

eggs, one at a time, and beat until the mixture is well combined. On low speed, mix in the

sour cream, vanilla, and zest until completely combined. (Mixture will look curdled.)

Gently stir the flour mixture, pineapple, and coconut into the butter mixture, stirring only

until completely combined. (Batter will be thick.)

Using a 1/2-cup measure, measure a scant 1/2 cup batter into each paper liner. Top each

muffin with a reserved piece of pineapple. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the muffins

are puffed, golden brown, and a toothpick inserted in the center of a muffin comes out

clean. Gently remove muffins from pan. Serve hot or at room temperature.

Yep, the little peanut that I had almost two years ago in November - has yet ANOTHER birthday coming up.

I've been throwing ideas around for her 2nd birthday party bash - whether or not we were actually going to have a party (because last year I vowed to only do the 1st, 5th, 10th, 13th, 16th, etc bashes) BUT now that it's getting closer to her big day - I can't possibly skip her 2nd birthday! No way! What was I thinking?

So, as for ideas and themes - I was thinking a "Balloon Birthday Bash" since my crazy girl is an absolute NUT about balloons!

Breakfast Tart

Yum, I want that breakfast tart RIGHT NOW.

Recipe includes:

Spring Breakfast Tart
serves 2

1 sheet puff pastry dough
1 strip of bacon, cut in lardons (optional)
3 asparagus spears
1 teaspoon oilve oil
1/4 cup creme fraiche
1 teaspoon fresh thyme, finely chopped
2 tablespoons gruyere, grated
2 eggs
salt and pepper to taste
egg wash
*arugula flowers

Preheat oven to 425°F.
Thaw the puff pastry dough according to the package instructions.
Place asparagus spears on a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil and season wih salt and pepper. Scatter lardons on another baking pan and bake both asparagus and bacon for 10 minutes.
Place the thawed puff pastry dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into approximately 6 1/4-by-9 1/2-inch rectangle. Place the dough on baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Using a paring knife, score a border 1/2 inch in from the edge of the dough. Using a fork, prick the center of the dough and brush the border with the egg wash. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
Par-bake pastry dough for 8 minutes, using a fork to prick any air pockets.
In a small bowl stir together creme fraiche and thyme. Salt and pepper to taste.
Spread the creme fraiche mixture evenly on the center of the pastry dough, keeping the border clean. Sprinkle with gruyere cheese and then scatter the lardons. Crack the eggs onto the tart, spacing them 2 inches apart and then place the roasted asparagus spears. Bake until the egg whites are set and the yolks are still soft, about 10 minutes.
Garnish with arugula flowers and serve immediately.

Recipe:
cups low-fat vanilla yogurt
1 cup assorted berries (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, chopped strawberries)
5 pretzel rods, halved, or 10 baked snack stick crackers

Directions:

1. In a large bowl gently stir together the yogurt and fruit. Spoon into 4-ounce ice-pop molds or 3-ounce paper cups. Cover molds or cups with foil; use a sharp knife to cut a small hole in the foil and insert cut side of pretzel rod or snack stick. Freeze until firm. Remove foil and mold or cup before serving.

2. Store for up to a month. Makes 6 pops.

For this:

Watermelon Agua Fresca

(did you know: Agua Fresca means "fresh water")

Recipe includes:

2 cups cubed and de-seeded chilled watermelon
1/2 cup chilled water
1 1/2 tbsp sugar (adjust according to the sweetness of watermelon)
1-2 tbsp lemon juice
mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Blend the above ingredients for 8-10 secs. If you want a smooth drink, strain. Garnish with mint leaves and serve chilled.

Tomorrow, at this time, I'll be on a plane with this little tiny dancer:

Now, this could either go realllly well (she has a thing with people and making them smile and laugh til they want to cry) or it would go really horrible (she has a thing with being a toddler and a terror when she's tired)

If the latter happens, it will all be worth it to see my mom, sisters and my dad (and everyone else in between)

I am so beyond excitement I may burst. Its been almost TWO years since I've been home. My home. In Minnesota. (Yes, I still call it home even though I've lived in the desert for almost 10 years - wow, scary).

I'm a lucky person to have such an amazing family AND extended family. I thank God everyday for that.

Mornings Like This

My daughter, Lucy likes to wake up with the birds at 6 a.m. almost every morning. I don't know where she got that habit from because her Dad and I are sleepers. Probably from MY DAD who always awoke at 4 a.m. - Which I never understood. Crazy people.

This morning, Lucy decided to sleep in until 6:35 a.m. - which gave Mom (me) time to get showered, blow dry my hair, make up on AND dressed before I even had to wake Wade or her up.

I love mornings like this. Especially when they are on a Friday.

(I will keep out of this story that she was up crying bloody murder from 11p.m. to midnight)

Recipe Fix: Mediterranean Wrap

How good does ^ look? YUM!

Ingredients Include:

1/2 cup(s) water
1/3 cup(s) couscous, preferably whole-wheat
1 cup(s) chopped fresh parsley
1/2 cup(s) chopped fresh mint
1/4 cup(s) lemon juice
3 tablespoon(s) extra-virgin olive oil
2 teaspoon(s) minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon(s) salt, divided
1/4 teaspoon(s) freshly ground pepper
1 pound(s) chicken tenders
1 medium tomato, chopped
1 cup(s) chopped cucumber
4 10-inch spinach or sun-dried tomato wraps or tortillas

Directions
Bring water to a boil in a small saucepan. Stir in couscous and remove from the heat. Cover and let stand for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork. Set aside.

Meanwhile, combine parsley, mint, lemon juice, oil, garlic, 1/8 teaspoon salt, and pepper in a small bowl.

Toss chicken tenders in a medium bowl with 1 tablespoon of the parsley mixture and the remaining 1/8 teaspoon salt. Place the tenders in a large nonstick skillet and cook over medium heat until cooked though, 3 to 5 minutes per side. Transfer to a clean cutting board. Cut into bite-size pieces when cool enough to handle.

Stir the remaining parsley mixture into the couscous along with tomato and cucumber.

To assemble wraps, spread about 3/4 cup of the couscous mixture onto each wrap. Divide the chicken among the wraps. Roll the wraps up like a burrito, tucking in the sides to hold the ingredients in. Serve cut in half.

Ice Cream Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 sticks softened butter
1 Cup granulated sugar
3/4 Cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 1/2 Tablespoons pure vanilla
Heaping 1/2 Cup vanilla ice cream (frozen from container)
4 Cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 bag chocolate chips
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a stand or electric mixer, cream the butter and sugars until fluffy. Add in eggs and vanilla until well combined. Add in ice cream until combined.
2. Place flour, baking soda and salt into a large bowl; mix. Add to wet ingredients along with the chocolate chips; mix until just combined. With a medium cookie scoop, scoop dough onto a silpat or parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until cookies are cooked through. Let cool for 5 minutes on baking sheet before transferring to a cooling rack. Serve with a marashino cherry on top

An Article I skipped upon this morning which I thought was interesting for you people of Arizona who read my blog (if there is anyone that reads my blog)

Take a look:

• House Bill 2069: Allows a county Board of Supervisors to cancel an election for a school district governing board, community college district board, precinct committeemen or a special taxing district if the number of candidates is less than or equal to the number of open positions. The board can appoint those people to the positions. It also allows the county board to consolidate election precincts.

• House Bill 2145: Clarifies that a county planning and zoning commission is only required to hold a regular monthly meeting if there is new official business to transact.

• House Bill 2195: Requires the Arizona State Lottery Commission to create special instant-ticket games charities could use to raise money. Up to 15 percent of the revenue from the games could go to the state and 20 percent of the cost of each ticket sold would go to the charity.

• House Bill 2209: Requires all cities and towns to post public meeting notices either on their own Web site or on a Web site of an association of cities and towns.

• House Bill 2242: Creates new regulations for reverse mortgages.

• House Bill 2350: Gives qualifying Purple Heart recipients a tuition waiver to community colleges or universities in Arizona. To be eligible, a service member must be stationed in or be a resident of Arizona when injured. They also have a disability rating of 50 percent or more.

• House Bill 2601: Gives all Arizona Eagle Scouts or Girl Scouts who have received the Gold Award the ability to get a discounted Youth Class F combination hunting and fishing license from the state.

• House Bill 2684: Requires the POW/MIA flag to be flown along with the U.S. flag at the state Capitol, the building that serves as the location of the superior court in each Arizona county, each Arizona city or town hall and each county's main administrative building.

• Senate Bill 1005: Gives tax exemption to trap and skeet shooting clubs that provide shooting training and hold competitions, as long as the property and buildings are used for educational purposes and not used or held for profit.

• Senate Bill 1009: Requires a criminal charge brought against a juvenile to be based on the age of the juvenile at the time the offense was committed, and not the age when the charge was filed.
• Senate Bill 1029: Prohibits a law-enforcement officer from being subject to disciplinary action if there is no just cause.

• Senate Bill 1181: Establishes an Autism Spectrum Disorder Task Force to review and make recommendation regarding services provided to individuals with autism spectrum disorder.

• Senate Bill 1304: Requires a hospital or facility where abortions are performed to submit to the state information on each abortion performed. The report would not identify patients by name but would include the woman's educational background, race, marital status and the reason for the abortion. Facilities also must document information about women seeking care because of a complication from an abortion.

• Senate Bill 1314: Makes it a state public policy that, absent any evidence to the contrary, it is in a child's best interest to have frequent and meaningful time with both parents in a divorce situation and to have both parents participate in decision-making.

Week 2 Weigh In

Last Friday I had to go in for a 'weigh in' at Dr. Brett Swenson's office. I was nervous!

The outcome of week 2:

5 lbs.

The week before was 9 lbs.

TOTAL: 16 lbs lost.

I think this has something to do with the failure of not being able to quit Starbucks. I have however, changed my drink to a Sugar-Free Vanilla Chai. But that doesn't make up for the calories I'm putting in. (Guilty)

Its one thing to quit carbs and sugar altogether...I need to have alittle indulgence. Right? I'm a Harmsen (Pivec) - I'm not THAT disciplined! Its in my genes to eat, drink and be merry (and fat?)

I go in on Friday again - for my 3rd week weigh in. I hope it's at least 5 lbs.

On another note, this past weekend we had a "girls" weekend - a.k.a. a birthday party at a Resort. a.k.a. a GREAT excuse to get our hair down and be girls (with the exception of our friend - my good friend, Janelle's boyfriend (who we've known for 7+ yrs), Sean. God bless him for putting up with Janelle, Danielle and I.

Fun was had by all - and let me say, it's TRICKY going out when you're on the hcg diet! No alcoholic beverages? No carbs? NO SUSHI!?!?!??!?! Are you kidding me?

Thankfully, my girlfriend Janelle was on a cleanse diet, so she wasn't able to eat/drink much either. We opted for Veggie Rolls at RA Sushi (minus the rice) and Spicy Tuna Rolls (minus the rice). And yes, I did have 3 glasses of wine at dinner. So sue me.

Yesterday I was SICK SICK SICK of this diet business. All day I was craving something...anything....other than chicken and veggies and fruit. I wanted chocolate. I wanted carbs. I wanted anything that wasn't healthy. Then Wade brought home CHIPS AND SALSA. Oh man! How DARE he! That's my weakness. He said "Sorry, it's not really that good" and I made my normal chicken, celery and tomato dinner and went to bed at 8:30.

I got a sugar-free/non-fat starbucks this morning. I know I shouldnt...but I did. Guilty!

I feel like I am not losing anymore weight. My drops are almost gone and I go to the doctor tomorrow. I am going to have to ask for more drops b/c I'm only on the 2nd week!

Friday can't come soon enough!

Danielle & Steve's anniversary is tomorrow! Happy Anniversary to my best friend!

Janelle's Birthday is TODAY! Happy Birthday my dear friend!

Last Week (End) In Review

Good Monday Morning!

I think I've officially gotten over the hump of the worst part of this diet. I no longer think about what I can't eat - and now am thinking of what I will be eating. If that makes any sense.

Last week sucked. I started to get a bit of vertigo in the middle of the week for whatever reason. If you don't know what vertigo is....click here.

I went to my FIRST weigh in day at my doctors and I've lost 9 lbs! 9 FREAKING lbs in 10 days. And that's even counting the days that I wasn't on the drops due to my unwelcome "friend" coming to town (aka the dreaded period).

I feel great! I fit into pants that I have been stashing away in my closet for oh....4 yrs? Size 8 - snug, Size 10 perfecto.

I made a new recipe for myself this weekend.....ground chicken breast from sprouts, cooked up with some fresh garlic and onion (only a 1/2 of an onion) and eaten with lettuce wraps (only iceberg lettuce, not the buttery lettuce that you usually eat lettuce wraps with)

All in all, I feel AWESOME. I feel healthy. I feel like I want to be skinny skinny skinny.

Day 1,000,000 (Or So It Seems)

I hate when Lucy decides to wake up at 5:20 and BE UP.
I hate not having ME time in the morning
I hate my period for lasting a week and a half
I hate that I haven't had carbs in oh....forEVER
I hate that my sister Ellie (whose 32nd Birthday is today) is so far away.
I hate that my family is so far away
I hate that my parents aren't together anymore.
I hate working.
I hate day cares.
I hate when my friends hurt.

I do love my life though, and I cherish everything that I am able to HATE - Because lets face it, that means you're living.

This weekend was a blur of sorts.

Friday night dinner consisted of some boiled up veggies (radish, celery, carrots - which are not on the diet menu - oops, garlic and lemon slices) - it was gross..but filling. My usual chicken breast and tomato with lemon squeezed on top. I was content. full. ready for bed.

Saturday for lunch - I had my usual chicken breast and tomato with lemon juice. Saturday night I actually went out to eat (this was difficult) and made a special order to the chef for a dinner salad with just tomatoes and grilled chicken breast. No dressing. How BORING. Lucy had a cheese crisp and some steamed veggies - and Wade (dare I say it) had a dozen spicy wings and fries. How DARE he!!! :)
Just kidding, it was fine and I felt good.

Sunday however, I woke up DIZZY. Like SUPER dizzy. I don't know if my body is trying to tell me to eat more - b/c frankly I don't think I'm even getting 500 calories in when I eat lunch and dinner. I don't know, but I just went back to sleep when after I was getting the dizzy spells and felt much better after my "nap". I scarfed down my vitamins and supplements and went on my day.

I cheated a couple times this weekend with Starbucks (sugar-free and non-fat).

Tomorrow I'm starting the drops again. No Starbucks.

On a side note, I've become completely obsessed with Sesame Melba Toast. Oh boy, it's delish!

Ok, don't mind the ugliness of this picture - It's early and I am tired.

Its Day 4 and I started my menstral cycle (ew, T.M.I.?) Per diet instructions, I'm suppose to stop the drops 3 days into my period. So here I am.

I will resume on the 500 calorie diet plan as suggested but..................................

I did something AWFUL this morning. I blame it on my period. That evil thing!!!

In my defense......it's sugar-free and non-fat. eeek!!!

Day 3. 500 Calories

The day is here. The morning flew by thanks to projects at work so I didn't really feel the hunger pains until like 11ish and then whaddya know? Its LUNCH time.

Here's a pic of what is for lunch today:

I'll save my orange for the afternoon because I may need it to get through the rest of the day til dinner.

That's all I got for today - All in all, today ain't so bad.

Day 2

So far so good. Last night we ate normally - Wade made his famous Spicy Chicken and Rice (with carrots and celery as the vegetables because someone forgot to pick up onions and cabbage at the grocery store this past weekend).

I will say I was starving by the time I got home last night. I had a piece of Melba toast (which was delish) and waited for dinner.

One more day of "normal eating" to go and then onto the concentration camp diet I go.

This morning I had:
Nutrigrain bar (blueberry)
A half of a banana
Black Coffee (which is starting to grow on me)
Muti-Probiotic 4000 Dietary Supplement
Citrus-Q10 60 coenzyme

Lunch, I'll be having:
Turkey and Havarti (my fav) cheese sammie
An apple

Dinner.....well, I haven't thought that far ahead yet.

The drops that I'm taking in the morning and at night do "taste" a little weird - like a numbing sensation. It's hard to explain...but I know that it feels weird.

A co-worker read over my directions on this diet yesterday and had some criticism towards the actual diet (as do many others). He asked me "Where does the HCG formula come from?" - hmmm..good question...because I probably should have done some research on that PRIOR to starting. (oops)

I did a quick google search and found NOTHING. Can you believe that? Does anyone out there know exactly how they manufacture this? I'd like to know. In the meantime, I'll be doing some more research.

So far, I feel good. Trying to keep busy at work so I'm not constantly thinking about munching.

D-Day - Day 1

I originally posted here about the HCG diet that I'm embarking on..which starts TODAY.

Day #1 - Four Drops were taken in the morning (tasted like nothing) - instructions are to eat full meals as I usually would. (EASY PEASEY!)

Breakfast - Nutrigrain bar, coffee, two nilla wafers.
Vitamins taken: Citrus-Q10 60 (Natural Coenzyme Q10) - chewable
Muti-Probiotic 4000 - A Dietary Supplement
B-12 500mcg

Lunch - Healthy Choice meal (details to follow) & an Apple

Water, lots of water - and tea also.

Feeling good.

Dear Lucy,

Mommy lost your favorite (my favorite) blankie yesterday on our nice stroll home from day care. I didn't realize it until we reached home and there was no blankie in your stroller. I cried. You had no idea.

We strolled through the neighborhood, tracing our steps we just took home - no blanket. A call to the day care to see if they had found it - no blanket. I cried. You had no idea.

We got home (me, still crying), fixed you dinner which consisted of PB & J, tomatoes and Green Beans mixed with Cottage Cheese (you're favorite these days) - Still crying. No still have no idea.

Bath time, PJ's on...Daddy gets home. I got to hug daddy before you did tonight because let's face it, you weren't as sad as I was.

THEN came bed time.....first five minutes you were ok - I gave you my baby blanket that I had as a kid (not the same, but I suppose it'll do). 10 minutes later - the crying began. Your Dad says it's just cause you weren't tired, but I know deep down it's because you didn't have your blankie. I'm so sorry that you cried for 30 minutes. I didn't mean to lose your night time buddy.

I hope you can forgive me. I love you and am grateful that I didn't lose you.

We have three people making you new blankets as I type this, because that's how many people love you.

I love you my little Lu - you are my world.

My leggings I'm wearing today - it feels so good, almost as good as wearing my PJ's.

Obama to Sign Promised Executive Order on Abortion

President Obama has invited members of the Democrats' anti-abortion bloc, including its leader, Rep. Bart Stupak of Michigan, to a private signing at the White House of an executive order that will reaffirm longstanding restrictions on federal funding of abortion.

Thoughts? Dislikes? Likes? I'd love to hear them.

On my way to work this morning I was pulled over. No fault but my own - 45 in a 35 - he let me go - 53 in a 45....sirens.

The minute he came up to my window I had my license and registration out (that's not obvious that I get pulled over alot - geez Julie!) - and then the tears came. This NEVER happens. I'm strong. I can hold my own...but after the weekend I have had - the tears were necessary. That in itself is a whole other story for another time when I'm ready to talk about it.

This morning my coffee is dedicated to you Mr Cop Man - for listening to me cry for a whole 10 minutes and probably wanting to run away---but you didn't. Mr Cop Man - you were very handsome, too. Mr Cop Man, I promise not to speed again. Or at least until next week when life seems to go nuts again. I owe this morning to you and I hope you know that.

Happy Monday to you all. Give your loved ones a kiss and a hug - you never know what may happen today, tomorrow or ever. Make today count. Be grateful for all you have.

I'm a bad mom. I didn't dress the little Irish girl named Lucy Patricia in green today. Nor did I wear green. I had no desire - plus my mom bought me this CUTE dress from H and M this weekend that I wanted to wear with these new shoes from shoedazzle.com.

My Grandma Pat (Pivec - maiden name: Dickey) would not be happy. Sorry Grandma!!!

I remember when I was in jr high and my friend Jenny and I would be decked out in green. We'd probably steal a beer to share from our parents...and maybe a cigerette or two (that I did not inhale). We'd probably listen to something ridiculous like House of Pain and be 110% Irish for the day. Ahhh, those were the days.

I promise to be more prepared next year when sending Lu to school on this fabulous holiday. I do have an excuse though, it was picture day today. God Bless those teachers at school today for attempting to get all these infant-toddler terrors to sit and pose in perfect position. I don't wish to be them today.
